Here's a variety of fun facts about The Mill!

Fresh Home Made Baked Goods Every Day!

Our mouth-watering desserts are baked, from scratch, every day under the watchful eye of owner Shelly Petersilka.

The banana creme pie and cherry cheese cake are simply to "die for." The recipes are closely guarded family secrets, kept under lock and key at a undisclosed location.

Our secret weapons for unbelievably good chicken dinners!

Chicken Dinners just like Mom used to make!

There's nothing that comfort's like mom's food...

At The Mill, we've been serving Mom's famous chicken, stuffing and gravy for decades. It's the meal that made us famous!

Yes, the recipe is kept with the other secrets of the Mill!

People always ask about the three hand-carved wooden ships behind our bar.

For years, Jim Cordier, displayed his wonderful hand carved schooners. We'd occasionally sell one for him.

Jim's up in years now and no longer carving, so you can image how much we treasure having these museum pieces adding so much to our bar's decor.

A GRUMPY CUSTOMER HISTORIC STORY

Here's a famous legendary story from The Mill 50 years ago. There was a grumpy customer who never tipped. He was unpleasant with everyone!

One day he complained that he had no spoon to stir his coffee. His spunky waitress retorted he should "stir it with his thumb" until she could get a spoon to him.

He was so startled, he left his first tip ever to that waitress. His first tip at The Mill!

Nightly Denizens of the Wild at The Mill's bar!

Carl, the caribou, is the only caribou we believe currently residing in Door County.

Carl was brought to Door County by current owner Don Petersilka's dad, Don senior.

Carl liked it here so much... well... he simply lost his head and stayed!

Wally, the walleye, was caught by Don's son, Don III at nine years of age.

Wally now resides above the center of the bar here, and we guarantee he will not start singing when you walk by!

This beautiful 12-point Door County buck has been at The Mill since Milton Petersilka, the frist Petersilka to own the restaurant.

He likes the place so much, he's been here for close to 50 years!

A true testament to the fine Door County artistry that preserved this beautiful mount.
